Kneehab XP
Kneehab XP is an innovative, easy to use and clinically proven garment-based device which offers carefully controlled neuromuscular electrical stimulation for wasted or weakened thigh muscles. Kneehab XP is commonly used post-operatively after operations such as ACL reconstruction, meniscal repair, patellar realignment or knee replacement.
Kneehab XP can be used in the comfort of your own home. Electrodes are placed on a garment which is worn around your thigh. A handheld controller connects to the garment and allows the patient to control the strength of a gentle stimulation transmitted through these electrodes to the quads muscles. This stimulation causes the quads to contract and relax, helping them to strengthen and rebuild.
Regular intermittent use of Kneehab XP has been shown to increase muscle strength and reduce muscle atrophy and weakness, thereby accelerating knee rehabilitation. It is particularly important for patients having knee procedures where they need to recover quickly, where the muscles are specifically important for providing stability to the joint, or where the patient is going to have their knee mobility restricted post-operatively by a brace or by the use of crutches for any significant time.
